People collect things.

As far as I know, humans are the only species on the planet that do this.  Sure, squirrels collect nuts, dog collect and bury bones, and beavers cut down trees and collect logs.  But those are all survival behaviors.

Humans collect stamps!  Unless you have figured out how to mail yourself to a nuclear fallout shelter, this is not an act of self preservation.

Collecting is pretty personal, and many of us inherit collections that we have no interest in.  These collections get stuck in a box in the back of a closet, or sold for next to nothing at a yard sale, or even tossed into a dumpster.  That's where I come in.

If I come across a "collection," I know there is a pretty good chance that somebody out there has a similar collection or at least has thought about starting one.  That means that it has value, and I will pick it up. Why?  Because I'm old fashioned and still believe there is room in our economy for bartering.

100 or so years ago, you could get treated by a physician for a dozen eggs, or have your horse shoed  for a bushel of potatoes, or pick up a couple bales of hay for a days worth of picking cucumbers.  Why has that gone out of fashion?  I, for one, would like to see it make a comeback.

But that's not the point of this page.  The point is that Opa's Workshop deals in collectibles.  That's where you come in.

Whether you are a collector or a barterer, there may be something here for you.  If you are a collector, check out Opa's Workshop Store occasionally.  We just may have something that you can add to your collection.  If you are a barterer, and see something you like in our store, contact us, maybe we can take an unwanted collection in trade.
